Caught up on this thread -- this is all very odd. And very concerning too.
If it were me at this point, I probably would get an ultrasound - but I'd get it on whomever I think is the sickest kiddo or shows the most symptoms. If they think this is contagious, then theoretically - really only 1 ultrasound may be needed - so I'd start with that. If another one really proves necessary, then fine. But if it is a contagious agent that IS diagnosed via ultrasound (??!!?!?) - then the other dog should not need an u/s - the other dog would just be treated accordingly.
Btw, I can't really tell what you're cooking them right now - but I would really back off almost all veg/fruit right now and any complex carbs. The goal is to keep the diet as *simple* (short chains, not long-chains) as possible for them. If it were me, I'd be feeding baked whitefish, mashed white potatoes (or sweet), and canned green beans.
