We use two leather leashes and two buddy-belt harness. At the hand-loop part of the leash, I connect them together with a carabiner, so I can hold both in one hand when needed. If it gets tangled or they tangle around me, I just detach it at the carabiner. I started doing this, because one time I accidentally let go of one leash while I was bending over picking up poop. Scared the crap out of me. With their leashes connected, I can let one go farther with the other closer to me, and vice versa.
