We have a heavily traveled path right next to my house and this last week there have been hundreds up and now. Wild flowers. I think maybe all the extra traffic may have caused the birds to move upstream.
They will be back when it warms up again.

Yes, indeed. And with education, understanding, and remaining ever-vigilante, co-existing with wildlife/nature is downright do-able--and so worth it!
