Banfield is a vet hosptial inside all of petsmarts, the
www.banfield.net is the website for them.
I've always heard pet insurance is gonna cost ya, they only pay a little for surgery, broken bones things like that, nothing like going to the vet and getting their shots, or routine exams, but i dont know much about it, so i may be wrong.
if you go to this link they will explain what the "wellness plan" is,
http://www.banfield.net/health/owp_puppies.asp
you make payments every month, for a year, then you renew your plan, but if for any reason you decide to cancel it, and go to a REAL VET, they charge you a big cancelation fee, i cant quite remember the cost, but i know its ridiculous to have to pay to cancel, when you're not satisfied with the service.
They are just in it for the money, thats why anytime you bring a new pet there, they push and push for these wellness plans, they are more worried about the retail aspect of the business, then helping pets. Its like when you go to sears, or even target now, they push these credit cards on you, because they get a commision for every person they get to sign up for a credit card ( i worked at sears for 2 years) retail shouldnt really be involved in pet care
