I had to bathe her more often, as the salt in the fur itched and she was constantly scratching.. It was a vicious circle. Whenever I had to bathe, she got matted again and again. her fur was not that long -I think about 4 to 5 cm (12 inches I think).
As I said, I regularly took her to the barber and asked for help there. But she did not want to trim it for the last two months, because it was so bitterly cold. and a few days ago I got her back completely shorn! she now has exactly 5 mm (1 inch) long fur and looks like a small otter.
I think it would possible to removed the mats but it would have taken longer. And the hairdresser please do not get me wrong, I still love her, I'm was so scared and I'm so sorry because she's freezing despite her coat (it's not like that yet) Apart from that, I felt so bad because I thought that I just did everything wrong | Getting the mats out can be very painful for the pup so it is better just to shave them to avoid traumatizing them and causing lots of pain and ever hair loss. I had to have my rescue puppy shaved down as soon as he had his shots because the old owners gave him to me a matted mess.
