Like others have said you can go to down (lay down) and stay next. I went to up and just held the treat higher and said up, up, up in a higher pitch voice and immediately "clicked" with my clicker when he jumped up. I then went on on walking on his hind legs and turning circles while standing. Lay down (to me) seems a little harder to teach little dogs (big dogs seem to get it as quickly as sit). After come, sit, up, I taught, stay and shake left paw and other paw. The clicker makes communication easier for the dog to understand. He knows when he hears the clicker he knows he is doing what you desire of him. |
