I agree that personality differences are due more to individual differences from dog to dog, plus upbringing, rather than which sex they are. Personally, the reason why we got Bella (a female) instead of one of her male siblings is that females squat to pee, and we use indoor potty pads, and we didn't want a male dog that might pee outside of the pad when hiking their leg. I don't know how true that is, but Bella has been an absolute angel as far as potty training went.
