I finally decided to call Petsmart thinking hair grows, but not considering danger to them. Only last week did I learn that at that place on the day one of my yorkies was there, Smuggles, a bulldog, died there. Moreover, later that week a shih tsu also died at the same place. A third was injured. I live six miles away and never heard a thing. My friend in Michigan somehow found it on the internet and called me,

I am so unnerved and urge other uninformed dog owners to read about the incident and consider choices they might make in the future.

Okay. I was able to find news articles about the Petsmart grooming deaths in Flemington, New Jersey. Here is one representative article: Two dog owners say their pets died at same PetSmart after grooming appointments | KIRO-TV

Two deaths at one location is suspicious, but they are still awaiting the results of the necropsy. Dogs can die from abuse or neglect at groomers, but they can also die of natural causes. For me, the jury is still out on this incident.

Here is a link to a news article about another incident at a mobile pet groomer in Phoenix, Arizona, where a dog was found hung to death on the grooming table and the groomer was found in a fetal position on the floor of the grooming van: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...an/1038398001/

That death is also still under investigation.

The important take-home lesson is that if you have your dog groomed at a professional groomer, check out their history and reputation on a case-by-case basis. It's not fair to paint all Petsmart groomers or all mobile groomers with the same brush.
