Does the new diet your vet prescribed for the calcium oxalate crystals have chicken in it? If that's a problem, and you don't mind cooking home made meals for your dog, you might try out

They do have recipes for dogs with calcium oxalate crystals that are chicken-free. These diets are by prescription only. Maybe you can ask your vet at your next appointment.
