Yes, it is a huge problem with Wheatens. PLN and PLE afflict about 10 to 15% of all Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers in the US. Here is a quote from a research article:

I suppose we should be thankful that PLN and PLE are less of a problem in Yorkies. Still, I hope that research continues, and that tests are developed for these and other genetic diseases for the sake of the next generation of Yorkshire Terriers as well as other dog breeds.
