Slightly different topic. Human vaccines: I just got the new Shingrix shingles vaccine today. I was the first person vaccinated at our CVS location, so I was kind of an experimental animal for them. No pain or other side effects so far. It's a lot more effective than the old Zostavax shingles vaccine, and you can get it if you're over 50, as opposed to over 60 for the Zostavax. I'm not making a recommendation one way or the other, but if you're concerned about shingles, this might be something to consider. |
My vet told me last August that this was the newest flu vaccine and it came out sometime in 2016. It was for two strains of the flu so we did that in August 2017. She was suppose to get the second dosage in September a month apart. Anyways she got really sick from that vaccine so I did not want to have to go through this again for the second shot. Sometimes I wonder about these vets you really need to do your homework before you go ahead with their advice. I had an avian vet break my parrots neck right in front of me and he denied it. If I had a new dog I would definitely would try the flu vaccine on it but for some reason Kinder could not tolerate it. As for me I have bad allergies and my doctor will not give me the flu and shingles shot because of my low immunity from allergies. That shingles is awful my father had on his head and after it went away he had bad headaches the rest of his life. You are lucky you can take the shingles shot and I think I am going to ask at Walgreens and see what they say for me. Best wishes to you with that shot. susan
