Hi and welcome! Good job in doing your research and my condolences on the loss of your Cairn.

I think that you guys could be a great home for a yorkie and you're actually considering two which can be really fun. I'm a single yorkie home and the portability of having 1 yorkie is great IMO. I do travel with Emma when driving or flying (depending on where we are going). I got my first yorkie when my daughter was 6 and I did train her on how to handle such a small dog. I think you will be fine with your grandkids, just remind them they can't pick the puppies up, sit on the floor and let the puppies come to them. Remind the kids that with any puppy that you can be gentle. Both those that are regulars at your home and the yorkies will learn how to be as they do like to follow you everywhere and be close.
