Sounds like you used good judgement by having your baby evaluated for underlying health issues before just deciding that he was a picky eater.

This may not be the answer for everyone, but it certainly was in your case. Dogs have their own eating style/pattern and drastic changes can indicate underlying health issues. On the other hand an occasional missed meal may simply indicate that furkid just wasn't hungry.
