Animal Smiley 036 New Puppy

Hi Yorky parents,
We recently adopted a beautiful 11 week old yorkie boy. The second day we brought him home he was so active and playful. The third day he started to sleep a lot and had no appetite. I felt a lump underneath his jaw. The fourth day we were very concerned, not eating , slight fever and lethargic. We brought him into emergency at one of our local vets. She examined him and decided to aspirate the lump on his neck to send a sample to a lab. This was not the vet we usually use. She was very compassionate and professional. The lab results were sent to our vet and stated that stage 5 lymphoma was suspected. We were shocked. Our vet suggested a full CBC be sent to their lab for a second opinion. Turns out the puppy Teddy Bear, had puppy strangle and needed to be treated with antibiotics and steroids. What a relief! Last night the lump under his jaw burst. He is back to what he should be. The vet bills came to 1,000 $. I had contacted the breeder when this first happened and she asked for updates during the ordeal. She even asked asked if our vet could phone her and we agreed to that. I have asked her if she could help with the bills but have received no reply. In the long run the money doesn’t matter, as long as Teddy is healthy.
While all this was going on I came across York’s Talk .I hope this post can help someone else. What a great website!
So nice to be able to get in touch with other York’s parents.
