That poor mom dog still a puppy giving birth to a puppy. I can tell you right now these were not great people letting that happen so I would not be surprised if they lied to you. At least you have her now and can give her a good loving home. That really would not have a hair growth effect on the puppy and she really although sooooooo cute I believe is a mix.
