Mine hate getting theirs plucked....so I just trim it.

As long as it's not acting like a wick to draw in moisture (from baths) & the ear stays relatively dry, it should be fine.

If you pup is getting infections from abundance of ear hair, then it should be plucked out. Only the hair coming out from the ear canal itself should be easily pluckable. They come out fairly easily when plucked w/your fingers, no tools needed. The fine hairs around it actually stings when plucked, so those should be shaved or trimmed off.

Be very careful w/ ear powders, it can cause clogs inside the ear canal. Needs to be cleaned out very thoroughly.

Lastly, if it's recurring yeast infections (brown smelly gunk) & the pup is scratching @ it constantly, the cause is primarily from their high starchy diet. Eliminate the carbs & they will be itch & yeast free.
