You've gotten some pretty good advice so far and I want you to know that it's totally fine to have a job and leave your dog home. Most people have full time jobs and pets.
I will say that dog walking can be expensive so don't feel bad if that's not an option for you right now. You've been making some good strides with friends helping with the puppy.
