I just wanted some opinions about something I heard from a lady I recently met. We were talking about breeding and reproducing a dog and the theories and application of breeding and how statistical models are now being used to predict the likelihood of a litter having xyz traits, etc. Anyways, she told me that the sweet spot was to have the sire’s father and the dam’s grandfather to be the same dog. I’m assuming that she meant that it was a sweet spot in terms of reproducing that particular dog. Does anybody have any experience with that? Does that make sense to a breeder or does experience show that to be true? I’m not a breeder but I found that remark really interesting and I’m just wondering if anybody would agree with that?
