I use Tartar Shield, which was recommended by my vet, but looking at your Healthy Mouth online, I think I much prefer those ingredients -- all natural stuff! I'm gonna try some. I agree -- I can't really tell if it's doing any good, but I'll do anything to protect their teeth at this stage.

Sounds like we're on a similar path with Yorkie dental care. I've brushed most days since puppyhood but they still have lost way too many teeth. My 13-year-old did great for most of his life. First recommended cleaning was at 6 years old and second around 10. But he lost about 13 teeth during his last cleaning, and I'm no longer bragging about the success I've had brushing. My 8 year old, sadly, is even worse. She's had about 5 cleanings in her life, and each one has resulted in tooth loss. At 5 1/2 pounds, she's about half the size of my other and her tiny little teeth need lots of attention.

I use a finger brush and a chicken-flavored toothpaste they love. YT member Sugarmamma conditioned her Yorkies to tolerate an electric toothbrush -- and she's had amazing results with their teeth. Mine run and hide when I turn on the Sonicare.

Good luck!
