I think a 2nd yorkie would be great. We originally had Max and then 8 months later went and got his sister (8 months younger with the same parents). There was a short transition period for them to get used to each other but now they are inseparable. When we 1st got Max Toni was able to take him to work every day but the landlord at her business complex put a stop to that after about 2 months. The last thing we wanted to do was leave him home alone for up to 10 hours a day so we went and got Sasha. Best decision we ever made. We have no young children so I can't speak to that but I truly believe yorkies are attention hounds and should always have a playmate. And the fact that he interacted well with the pugs makes me think he would welcome a baby brother.
