My 1st post--might be a bit long, but need some advice, please. Our Sasha will be 11 @ X-mas. We have had her since she was 2. Got her off a Craigslist ad from a single mom, who thought breeding & selling pups would make her xtra $$$ ( but she did not realize how much work went into it. ) She had 5 pups, sold them & was finished with her. She has been a joy & never really been sick. Fast forward to last month. Had a Senior wellness check (shots, labs, bloodwork, etc) $400.00. Couldn't really afford it, but was talked into it by our Vet. Results came back as liver & kidney starting to go, white & red cell counts ok, but not normal. Along with almost all her teeth gone, she is fairing pretty well. She was acting, eating, drinking all normally. Than 2 weeks ago, she woke up & was bumping into everything, like she couldn't see. Took her outside & noticed both her brown eyes (not the white part), the pupil itself were both tinted red. Immediately called the Vet. Emergency visit, more blood work, etc., another $350.00. Vet had never seen this b4 & thinks maybe she had a stroke. Had no other explanation for it. Put her on eye drops, BP meds (hers was elevated) & that was it !! Took her to a Vet that specialized in the eyes, also never seen b4. Another $300. We have no explanation as to what happened to her, except she lost her sight overnight. I am home all day (back injury). If she is not sleeping, she is up walking into everything & barking constantly, which is driving me bananas. She can no longer do stairs, so I have to take her up & down the stairs all day long to potty, which is killing my back. If I don't do this, she will potty all over the house. She is still eating/drinking normally. We cannot spend any more $$$ on Vets & specialists to check her eyes. Has anyone ever seen or heard of this ?? Any & all suggestion would be appreciated.
