A quick bath and blow dry between clippings suits her just fine. Lacie, on the other hand, is much more mellow- and loves to be groomed, alas she has a beautiful floor length coat.

Hair grows back. It took about a year the one time I cut Lacie down from dragging the floor to short puppy cut to back to floor length. BTW, there were many tears on my part during the process - the moment I had Lacie cut down I knew I had made a mistake

My best advice is to follow your and do what feels right.
Wow it grew right back in a year? I think it took quite a bit longer for Scottie's coat. Is there some kind of secret hair growing recipe?

When I cut Scottie's baby hair / pony tail on his head, I had so much regret. I can't imagine how I'd feel cutting all his hair! I'm sure I'd also be in tears for sure.
