This friend that told you you were confusing Secret by using pads and taking him outside, that he was your master, is this friend an expert on the yorkie breed? The only thing I see wrong in your short story of Secret is the failure to properly potty train him. Yorkies are ppl dogs, they must have their humans in their sight at all times (unless they are getting into mischief lol) I see nothing wrong in babying your baby, yorkies are very child like, having a yorkie is like having a life time toddler. Yorkies need to be with their humans, where ever you go, so will your yorkie. Do not feel guilty about loving little Secret to much, you did not fail as a fur momma, do not feel you doted to much on Secret. It is very easy to fall head over heals in love with these lil critters and they can rule our lives if we allow them to. It is important that they are taught basic commands this is for their safety and well being and also helps in bonding with their humans. Sounds like you are off to a good start with lil Miss cali, waiting until she stops whining then taking her out of her crate. All my babies were pad trained as puppies, once they had all their vaccines then they were trained to potty out doors and were walked every day. I am not familiar with "litter" training, but if it's working for you that's good. Do not deny lil Miss Cali love because you feel you loved Secret to much, no matter how much or how little you love these yorkies they will always want to be where you are., this in very normal with the yorkie breed. I guess I was very lucky potty training my 4 girls, By 5 months old they were 100% pad trained with no accidents, by 7 months old they were 100% house broken and only pottied when they were walked, but it is said yorkies are a bit harder to potty train, it takes consistency, lots of patience, treat rewards and crazy happy praise when they do what they are being taught, wheatear it's command training or potty training.
