Most or many dog show have CHIC clinics that breeders/show people can use to document soundness. The evaluations are done by veterinarians who are specialist is the area they are examining. Those vets are not judges at the show.

YTCA is now supporting DNA testing etc. many faults do not show up in testing, as chantriesmom pointed out,and breeders will continue to breed a dog is known cardiac issues that done show up until a year or two later. So bottom line is integrity and checking out reputation.
