We have a 1 year old neutered male Yorkie and a 5 year old spayed female bull mastiff. The mastiff is a sweetheart and she and our Yorkie play together all the time, she's always gentle with him even though at first we were scared to death because she's so big. But they have been the best of buds for the past year with no issues at all.
From what I've read so far, it's probably better to get another male having the Mastiff. Have heard that 2 females in the same household can lead to problems, and given the Mastiff is a big dog, even if she's a big lovable moose, we are kind of taking that advice pretty seriously.
So looking at a male, but not sure how 2 male Yorkies would get along. Any opinions, thoughts? |
I am interested in the answer too. I can tell you my yorkie Otto (18 mos) is kind of alpha type and he gets along with other female dogs just fine, a complete gentleman but hates and wants to annihilate any other male dogs, except his brother Tito which he loves and plays with (he lives in another household). Tito is always friendly even with other male dogs. However, his other brother Teddy, is also alpha type so he and Otto can never be together as they want to kill each other. So it looks it is not a recipe but it depends on their personalities?
