I've used Nexgard and Simparica with good results the past two years. I only use flea/tick meds as needed but I've never had any bad side effects with either of my 2. I can't say whether I like one better than the other. Simparica is a tad cheaper and I think covers one more type of tick than Nexgard (I could be wrong about that though - have to double check). They both seem to do their job.

My pups are in the pool all summer long and it was a pain to try to keep them dry for 24 hours with the topicals. I also just hated putting it on them because they wrestle and bite each other and I pet them, etc, and I don't know... I just didn't like it. So I was really glad when the oral meds came out.

I give Heartguard every month for heartworms with no issues.
