Default Can't Figure Out Sleeping Arrangements...

I hope I can get some advice from you guys on this! We still can't come up with a good place for Max to sleep. For a year, we let him sleep on the sofa downstairs. He was so good and would patiently wait there in the morning for us to come down. Now, he leaps over the pet gate and comes to cry at our door every morning at around 5:30.

We've tried letting him sleep in the bed with us, which used to go pretty well. Now he spends the whole night moving around and jumping off the bed, pretty much disrupting any sleep.

If he's in a crate, he barks at 4 or 5 am and won't stop. We would love for him to sleep in his bed next to ours, but he just jumps in ours and is disruptive. Putting the cage in our room doesn't help either.

We will soon be moving to a two-bedroom town home while we build a house. Any ideas for where to set up his sleeping area? I need to reduce barking as much as possible since we will have neighbors sharing a wall. Willing to try just about anything!
