I adopted a 2 year old Yorkiepoo and she eats 1/4 Cup at 6 am and 5 pm. When we leave to go to work, we put kibble in one of those rolling treat dispensers so she doesn't get anxious. I do it again when I come home for lunch at noon. She's gained 2 pounds in 6 months and now weighs 12.4 pounds, which is a good weight on her. She has the run of the kitchen while we're gone...I pick up her water at 6:30 every night, last walk is around 8 or 8:30 and she's good until about 4 am when she wakes my husband up to go out to piddle. We just can't get her past that 4 am wakeup. So, we just live with it. (We also have a fenced in yard she'll run in. Other than that we walk her on a leash at 7am, noon, 5:30. If she hears the neighbor's dogs then she will run around the back yard barking at them (like she's really going to scare several labs and a husky!) and will piddle. We give her a treat every time she does that too.
