It sounds like separation anxiety to me. But I'm also wondering how recent the change from the previous owner's home to your home is.
Some dogs like the radio, some hate it. Most dogs feel more safe and comfortable in smaller cozier spaces, with their toys etc. When given the entire house, he might be freaking out a little bit, especially since he's worried about when you're coming back home.
Are you able to slowly do some separation anxiety training? On the weekends, set up a monitoring camera (like a baby monitor or an app on your phone paired with an iPad or something). Then, leave for 10 minutes. Come back and reward him if he's quiet. Do slow increments, 10 minutes...20 minutes... half an hour, an hour, 2 hours and so on, rewarding each time if you noticed he's quiet.
Make sure you don't act like you feel sorry for him each time you leave. Smile and say see you soon or something (that's what I say

).
In combination with the above, you can also get some treat dispensing toys to preoccupy him while you're out. That would certainly help to keep him quiet, which is especially helpful in the beginning training stages.
