  This is what I did too. And she was pretty consistent potty trained within two weeks. Also, if you do this, keep your eyes on her all the time. If she starts squatting down, say 'uhuh' (or whatever you use for 'not good'), pick her up and take her straight outside. If she goes outside praise, praise, praise her. If you use the treat technique, give the treat to her after she goes potty outside (don't wait until you're back inside, because she won't know what she got the treat for). Like everybody else said, be very consistent and she'll get it. Good luck! 
BTW, I take Trixie out no matter what type of weather it is. If she has to go, she'll go really quickly and we run back inside.
