I am dealing with this motion sickness too! My little 6 mo old gets really violently sick within a block of putting her in the car. Since we leave out every weekend to go to our farm she must endure a 2 hr trip on Fridays and again on Sundays. The Vet told me to use childrens Benedryl (any flavor) and give her 1/2 tsp. an hour before the trip. No food the day of travel. Said we could work it up to 2 1/2 tsp. if needed, but to start with the lowest dose and slowly increase. Our little girl is 5.5 lbs and we have found that the 1 tsp. works for her. The Vet said that benedryl has a anti anxioty (sp?) med in it. She has been able to make the trip without all that sickness! Vet also said there were medications I could use but I would really not like to DRUG her for two trips in 3 days..just seems like to much meds. I am taking her for small trips during the week. It was suggested I drive to a fast food place and order something I could give her a treat with (hamburger patty piece). The idea was to make it fun with treat rewards....I am hoping she outgrows this and keeping my fingers crossed. All our other dogs ride fine..never had a dog that reacted so bad to being in a car!!! UCK! I feel so sorry for her. Give the Benedryl a try...its working for us.
