Dont worry about asking for a second opinion from a specialist. It is very normal to do so - just be polite and you can add some explanation that given the seriousness of her condition we would like a second opinion - who can you refer me to?
i too am very sorry you are going through this with your gal. Unfortunately I cant share any personal experience with this/these conditions
