I had a similar problem when I introduced my rescue Yorkie, Lucy, last year. She had two previous owners and was badly neglected. She's got a rather dominant but very loving character. She's around 9 years old but could even be older. Jake, who is now 5 years old, wouldn't go near her and was very unhappy. Lucy would take his toys away when he was playing with them and she always got in between Jake and I when I called him. I wasn't sure what to do, so I just kept an eye on them and never left them on their own. Eventually Jake made friends with her. Nowadays he doesn't mind if she gets cuddles, sometimes he just comes over for some too. He likes playing tug-of-war with her with his toys. Good luck with the training, I hope you don't have to find her a new home. It does take some time until they settle down together. |
