Welcome. Some dogs couldn't care less about birds and small animals and others really care. I have one who dosen't care about our hamster and two who do. You might want to put like a baby gate on your daughters room because you don't want the cat to beat her up or hurt her. Keep in mind it might take a while for her to adjust but I'm sure you know that since you have had rescues. Hope everything works out well.
