An 'innocent' heart murmur is called a Venous Hum. My oldest son was born with one and I was told he would outgrow it. He did. It is not heart disease.
I had bought two puppies that arrived with heart murmurs, grade 2. That was heart disease and it was heard and graded just with a regular vet exam when they arrived from Oregon. It was followed up with echocardiograms. I kept them anyway. One lived to 9 years and the other 61/2 yrs. They were dearly loved and I never regretted keeping them and not returning them to their breeder. It was so obvious that she knew they had heart murmurs after I informed her they failed their vet exam. I worried what would happen to them if I sent them back to her.
