Thanks for your reply. About a year ago I had a 15# dachshund that I took to Petco for beginner training. (I had to take him to a doxie rescue because he was too large for me to handle. He was adopted by a family that had other doxies and he fit in like a glove with that group). I guess I was fortunate that none of the dogs in that group were over 30#. The area was larger and it was possible for the dogs to socialize. The trainer made sure we knew exactly what we were supposed to do when we went out into the store for training. She spent very little time talking and actually having us interact with our dogs. I chose PetSmart this time because I had heard so many good things about the training program there. I know a lot of the success of the program depends on the trainer. Fortunately I had experience with my doxie in the beginner training to be able to work on my own during the week. Only time will tell. |
