I took him and checked him over. there was nothing in his mouth and I couldn't find any swelling anywhere. his heart rate and temp were normal. he snuggled into my lap and just wanted to sleep. Before we went to bed I gave him some nutra-cal and put down some kibble for him. He had already eaten dinner but wanted to give him the option. He tried jumping on the bed but couldn't and he usually can. I put him in his area for the night. He was eating and drinking this morning but wasn't his normal self.
My other yorkie, Hemi, isn't acting like Axel but is not as "crazy" as usual. We did have a big weekend camping. Would it be possible that they are just worn out? |
Did you check for ticks?????? Get them both to your vet. Michigan has 1000's of deer ticks! It could be lyme disease! My Cocoa did NOT recover from her attack and we never did find evidence of any ticks. She was a lab and my service dog so she was with me 24/7. We live in Louisiana and her vet said heart problems from the fact she collapsed when going outside. For about 15 minutes she could not stand up again. When an officer - and good friend - drove by he stopped to help get her back into the house, she snapped at him. This was something she had never done to anyone. The two of them were great friends all other times. He used to go with us running. He and Cocoa wuold run while he pushed my chair. He also had a pool for her to play in. She loved him, but it was like she had never seen him before.
PLEASE DO NOT WAIT. TIME IS NOT YOUR FRIEND IN CASES OF TICK BITES.
You need the blood test now. We took Cocoa to tge vet the next day with Charley at our side. Coco kept licking his hand. We gave her th medicine exactling as Rodger said but Cocoa could not come back. All her blood work was normal except the lyme results.
I strongly suggest you take both dogs!
