Not necessarily...When I got Max I was told that he was trained to go on newspaper. I even saw him go on the paper on his own when I was at the breeder's house. But wouldn't you know that when he arrived at
my house the newspapers all of a sudden became his new chew toys. I even tried pee pads after that and he shredded those apart as well. Sometimes dogs don't generalize information that well when they are just learning new things. Just because they may use a pee pad appropriately in one room, doesn't mean that they will use it appropriately in another room of the same house. Especially if they are not taught. It just takes patience and time. Abbie is a year younger than Max and was housebroken within a year(~8-9 months). Max is 2 1/2 years old and still has accidents...but we're still working at it
