There is also the mobile vet. Not sure where you live but it goes to different locations throughout the week and does many different procedures including dental cleanings for low cost.
I really am lucky with my vet he only charges $300 for the cleaning but that does not include blood work. But H S is much cheaper if that is all included in the price.
I work long hours during the week so for me its a matter or convenance also built into the price and getting an appt when I want it.
I try to book the dental when they have their annual visit so it all gets done together and I am not paying for blood work again.
Sorry you had a bad experience with AMC. I have heard mixed reviews about them.
LadyJane is right it sounds like you love Gizmo more than anything. He is lucky to have such a caring mom. I love my two the same way. I keep saying I want another one as well but than think of the cost and time from my two I can provide and say not at this time.
