 Newbie/crate help!
Hello! I’m brand new to both this site AND to being a Yorkie owner!! My last two dogs were large, and very easy to train, so with my little stinker I’m trying to read as much as I can to do this right!!
Ginger is 14 weeks old, and we have had her two weeks. I’ve already read through posts and gotten great ideas, but I’m stumped by my current issue. Ginger will sleep 8 hours through the night with no problem and no accidents in her crate- which is awesome! However, during the day she without fail will pee within an hour or two. I always take her outside right before putting her in, and wait until she goes twice (she had a habit of going once outside, then coming in and immediately peeing on my carpet). I don’t if this makes a difference, but at night the cage is full sized, during the day I make it smaller- just large enough to lie down, turn around, etc.
Any wisdom the veteran Yorkie owners have would be greatly appreciated!! |
