LP dosen't always mean pain. If it's an older dog and you do the surgery he still has a chance of his CCL's tearing and then it's expensive surgery again. LP puts a lot of wear and tear on the CCL. I had the suregery done on my yorkie to fix the CCL and the LP on one leg and it was $3,000 then several years later even after being told about the CCL possibly tearing I got the other knee done just with LP surgery which was $2,000 then a year later her CCL tore and it was another surgery for $2500. It is a very rough and painful surgery. Even with a pain patch and 2 pain meds my girl was not super comfortable. It is a minimum of 8 weeks crated sometimes 12 weeks depends. They cut bone which is what makes it so painful.
