You will also want to establish yourself and let Latte know you are the boss, not him. To do this, do daily obedience training exercises with him. Make it fun.

When I first got my babies, I used the "Nothing Is For Free" technique (Nothing in Life Is Free (NILIF) Dog Training). Basically, for anything Latte wants, he must first do something you want (i.e. sit down politely before getting his dinner etc). I still apply this everyday and highly recommend it.
Everything she has said is 100% to be followed!!! Resource guarding took MONTHS of training to get our girl out of- and every so often she'll shock the hell out of me and slip back into it. We have to nip it fast. These dogs need to know that you. are. in. charge. If you let him get away with everything because his manipulative (and so adorable) furry paws charm you, he won't be a happy guy. They don't like being in charge, but will take charge if they need to. They are so eager to please you! Please remember that they respond well to positive, consistent, training.
