| It's a GIRL! Good Afternoon all!
Sunday evening my husband purchased a 13 week old female teacup Yorkie for my birthday. I have been researched for about 7-8 months before we purchased her and now that we FINALLY have her I am feeling clueless! I have a couple of questions that maybe I can get some advice on but first here is some little info on our days.
At bed time I bring her crate upstairs and put it beside my bed and as long as she smells my hand she will go straight to sleep. I wake up a few times in the middle of the night and take her outside to potty. During the day we have been letting her roam free just so she can adjust to her new environment. I keep her food out all day because she is on the "bony" side her vet said (she turned 14 weeks on Tuesday weighing 1lb 6oz) so I make sure she eats as much as possible. I take her out A MILLION times a day and today shes pooped outside 4xs already! Today I have started crate training her (i bring her crate downstairs every morning) but I am not sure its the right thing for our dog. I stay home with her and only leave the house when I have errands, take the kids to school, and kid sports.
Will crate training be unnecessary for her or will it be beneficial since shes in it at night?
Also, my husband and I have a date this Friday (in two days) that has been planned for 7 months and Im worried about Gypsy while I am gone. I was thinking of putting her crate inside of the baby play pen we have with her crate on one side, puppy pad, and bed and food on the other side. Will that be okay for her or should I purchase an exercise pen? I am not sure what will make her more comfortable
Any advice will be GREAT and thank you for reading this novel |
