Go for it! The puppy will adapt. I have 3 Yorkies and I work 5 minutes from home. I come home at lunch every day to visit them and let them potty. I spend every chance I can with them. Evenings mean going outside to chill as soon as I get home from work and play time outside. It will be difficult for the puppy at first to hold it until you get home so I would use pee pads and keep them in a small area of your house/apartment. As they get older they can have a bigger space and when they can hold it until lunch they can have run of most of the house. Mine have the living room, dining room and kitchen while I am at work. The bedrooms/bathrooms are gated off from them and then at night they can go to my bedroom to sleep with me.

There is nothing better than being greeted at the door by my puppies. Oh, just a side note, save yourself the trouble and just get 2 from the get go. They will enjoy each other's company and have someone to play with while you are at work. Almost all of us end up with another Yorkie (or more) so just go ahead and get 2 right from the start. LOL
