At first they were very tentative as her enzymes were off the chart. Her enzymes improved greatly in the first day and then gradually from there. Ultra sound and X-ray confirmed a pancreas issue.

She was so pathetic those 4 days- I wasn't even sure she knew me when I went to see her 3-4 times a day. On the 5 day I brought her home and the pain meds kept her totally snowed! I had to hold her up to urinate VIP ecause she kept falling over. So I started weaning her off over the next 4 days and her ability to get around improved tremendously! Even though she was weak she was getting around better and much more alert so progress seemed to come faster.

She is not very fond of the pancreatic prescription food but we are working on that. I see progress daily and am more encouraged. Now we are waiting for the next blood work. Strength is coming slowly and I don't perceive any pain. She seem to sleep a lot but I think that is part of the recovery.

It is suspected that my neighbor sprayed Round Up week killer along the fence between our properties and apparently she got a heavy dose. She was licking her feet a lot those two days she started throwing up at the beginning. At 3.8 pounds I guess it did not take much. Liver and kidney seem to be fine but will continue to assess.

So now she is eating and eliminating well and is getting stronger.

Guess that is about the story. I am much encourage now compared to at the beginning. We just have to weight to see if the episode was acute or if it has progressed to chronic.

Thanks for asking about her!
Poor Cali. I hate pancreatitis...very scary stuff. I am happy to hear she is doing well now.
