I just want concrete underground 3-4 feet under(maybe even go crazy and make it 5) just to deter any possible digging out, Using a concrete wall instead of wood, wood rots after a while and even if treated itll eventually go bad and some parts even break... when I lived in Puerto Rico we had a massive walls of cement and there was no way nothing could get in or out. We did it to keep neighbors kids out of our yard(we had a really big yard- almost an acre or half-- as big as two school gymnasium....
Removing any method of getting out would make me feel at ease. But since our house is partially on a slope/hill our deck is "floating" and underneath there the dog could somehow get in and it would be impossible to get her out... she likes to hide in places. Even when shes calm she just likes being underneath things. Guess she must have had it tough(she did this since day 1). She only leaves the hide outs if I call her in a playful manner or human food...
My neighbors have a golden retriever and even on our own side of the property he growls and barks...
Anytime we go outside, the couple end up going inside because of the dogs...
As for intellect-- I think its rather specific and limited intellect... Otherwise... why would a dog purposely anger something possibly dangerous? Or try to eat something inedible... or try to anger a bigger dog on purpose... or say if something is hot like a heater, why would they purposely try to touch it-- even after being burnt the first time? My friends dog touched a heater that was on max(the portable heater units) and she burnt her paw- seconds later she used her other paw and burnt her other paw.... That's what I mean... or a dog trying to go through a thorn bush... thrice....

No doubt there are smart dogs like collies and the like. |
A lot of dogs generally stay away from hot stuff. Most adult dogs don't put things in their mouths that aren't edible at least not the ones I have or grew up with but they did as puppies because that is their only way to touch and check it out. Yorkies are extremely intelligent my boy is about to be an advanced trick dog and eventually a champion trick dog. My older girl is crazy smart like doggy genius and I couldn't even put into words how smart she is. She also seems to know when my panic and anxiety attacks are coming and won't leave me alone. We have three acres and most people in my neighborhood have that or more and don't put a fence up at all just use the electric fences and that dosent always keep them in nor other animals or people out.
