Food-when I got Hallie (she was 2.5) and she didn't want to eat dry food either so I gave her canned food for about a week and slowly started adding her dry food to it and that seemed to work. I was also switching her food since she had been eating generic (really bad) food and I wanted both of them to eat the same thing. I think maybe I was lucky with that working but it might be worth a try.
Car seat- I drove from Alaska to New York with my babies and they HAD to have car seats so I spent a fortune getting them great car seats and they LOVE sitting in them. I ordered them from dogbedsetc.com! They are like a doggiebed on top of a suitcase and the seatbelt hooks through the back. THey have clips to keep them secure in the seat. They are both in the backseat and they can see out the window and bark at all the bicycles and motorcycles
