You cannot give your pup free roam of your home. He has to be confined to a smaller area until he is 100% trained not to be destructive. As Lovetodream has suggested, an exercise pen is ideal with lots of chew toys for when you cannot supervise him. 8 months old is still a puppy and needs training.
