Personally, I too wouldn't hesitate to use trazadone, valium, or acepromazine in my kiddo if it helped them get thru a highly stressful event for them. I'd try it beforehand like you're doing and find out which one worked best.
Medications like this can be game changers - so yup, wouldn't hesitate to try!
