That is absolutely false. Spaying a female is best to do before there first heat so 6-8 months old and neutering I would say between 6-8 months old too. My older girl was spayed at 8 months before her first heat and has had no issues related to the spaying just her bad breeding background. My boy was neutered at 7 months and is e trembly healthy. They suggest big dogs wait a little longer but not small dogs and personally I don't think the research is 100% there on that either. I just wrapped up my vet assistant classes and stand strong about 6-8 months. Also yorkies sometimes have retained baby teeth so make sure to have the vet check for those when spaying or neutering. All of my yorkies have had to have a few baby teeth pulled.
